Sustainable heating and cooling for an apartment building near Brno
The first separatus project in the Czech Republic marks an important milestone. Two 140-meter-deep separatus geothermal probes were successfully installed in a small town near Brno. The borehole diameter was 132 mm, and the drilling was carried out using a hammer drilling method. The system will provide a multi-family building with sustainable heating and cooling.
The project was implemented by our local construction partner EMBRA Drilling. For separatus, this project is a significant step into a market with great potential for near-surface geothermal energy.
Technical support from conception to installation
We provided comprehensive support to EMBRA Drilling for this first project. Our assistance ranged from the initial concept and system sizing to the technical design of the entire geothermal system.
These included in particular:
- Simulation of the plant
- Design of the separate geothermal probes
- Calculation of pressure losses
- Planning the hydraulic distribution
- technical coordination with the drilling team
- On-site training during initial installation
Especially in a first project, this close collaboration is crucial. It creates certainty in the planning, reduces risks during implementation, and lays the foundation for efficient follow-up projects.
Challenging conditions on the construction site
The installation took place under challenging conditions. Wet weather and a muddy construction site hampered the work on site. Nevertheless, the installation of the two separatus probes went smoothly.
Even a less-than-ideal installation reel couldn't throw the EMBRA Drilling team off their game. With experience, flexibility, and meticulous craftsmanship, they handled the situation with aplomb. Moments like these demonstrate just how crucial a strong and professional drilling team is for the successful implementation of new technologies.
Valuable insights for further projects
Every first project brings new experiences. The insights gained from the installation in the Czech Republic help both teams to further improve the installation process and to tailor the system even more efficiently to market requirements.
For separatus, one thing is clear: future projects will benefit from this experience. The first successful deployment forms the basis for long-term cooperation with EMBRA Drilling and for further applications in the Czech Republic.
Strong partner in an interesting geothermal market
We are very much looking forward to further cooperation with EMBRA Drilling. The Czech Republic is an exciting market for near-surface geothermal energy. With innovative solutions, experienced drilling companies, and a growing demand for sustainable heating systems, there are ideal conditions for further projects.
A huge thank you goes to the entire EMBRA Drilling team for the professional execution, the valuable insights, the hospitality, and the excellent collaboration. It was a pleasure to celebrate this milestone together.
separatus stands for simple, smart, and economical geothermal energy solutions. The first project in the Czech Republic demonstrates how new markets can be successfully developed with strong partners, technical support, and practical innovation.
