Why worry about the drill diameter?

That was the question around which our speaker Benjamin Pernter's presentation at the 34th Düben Well Drilling Days revolved.

Currently, air-source heat pumps dominate due to their ease of installation and feasibility, despite their drawbacks. In Germany, the geothermal market is further hampered by significant bureaucracy and regulation. Ultimately, geothermal energy is simply too expensive for many. And in the important renovation market, the large space required for large drilling machines is a hindrance. Consequently, the homeownership market in many regions has abandoned geothermal energy. Air-source heat pumps will not disappear from the market entirely; however, through innovation and cost reduction, drilling companies can ensure their profitability. This also maintains the competitiveness of what we consider to be the best heating and cooling technology – geothermal energy. And one of the biggest factors influencing the costs of developing geothermal energy is the borehole diameter.

The large crowds at the separatus information stand following the presentation demonstrate the urgency of the topic and the great interest in our innovative, cost-reducing geothermal probe system.
