Interest in the recently SKZ-certified, cost-saving geothermal system was high at the Bad Düben Well Builders' Days. separatus was represented for the second time on March 20 and 21, 2025.
Trade audience in Bad Düben
The industry gathering at HeideSpa is an annual highlight. The interested audience of experts from drilling companies, government agencies, and engineering firms attended the DVGW W120 training program, which focused particularly on near-surface geothermal energy during the geothermal conference on Friday. The opening event examined the development of the geothermal market in Germany.
Currently, stagnating sales figures are observed, primarily due to uncertain investors and home builders. Especially last year, Germany saw a decline in investment in the sustainable renovation of heating systems, affecting all renewable energy sources. In an energy policy environment in which gas prices are set to continue rising, the announcements that taxes and duties on electricity will be reduced nationwide offer hope, so that environmentally friendly electricity will particularly benefit heat pump systems.
separatus offers cost-effective solutions
Geothermal energy has long been a favored solution for large-scale projects, as it minimizes energy costs for heating and cooling. However, cost-effective solutions have been lacking, particularly for small and medium-sized geothermal projects—for single-family and multi-family homes, SMEs, and even larger construction projects with low-energy standards. Since this sector in particular needs to be stimulated, interest in separatus was very high at the trade fair. The drilling and planning companies present were able to learn about the savings potential offered by separatus during the presentation breaks.
The widely discussed drill diameters were a particular topic. With separatus, the drill diameter can be significantly reduced. Any regulatory requirements regarding annular space clearance can be met at any time. Where previously drilling required 150 mm, separatus now allows for a reduction to 110 mm. This is a welcome development among drilling companies, as it can significantly simplify the entire drilling process, from drilling mud disposal to probe installation and backfilling.
We look forward to upcoming separatus projects around beautiful Bad Düben - and beyond!
